THE CHALLENGE & PROJECT OBJECTIVE
How can we enable users experience financial freedom through modern banking.
SOLUTION
In today's digital age, banking is evolving rapidly, with customers increasingly seeking seamless and intuitive experiences. As a product designer with 5 years of experience, I had the privilege to contribute to the transformation of the banking landscape through my work on the design system and user interface UI for Buckpay's mobile application.
THE APPROACH & MY CONTRIBUTION
While the user research and requirement gathering were handled by a separate team, I played a crucial role in:
Design System Development:
I led the creation of a comprehensive design system, including the color palette, typography, and UI component library. This ensured consistency, efficiency, and scalability throughout the design process and future iterations.
User Interface Design:
Based on the user research and requirements, I designed the app's UI, focusing on simplicity, clarity, and user-friendliness. This involved crafting intuitive information architecture, designing user flows for core functionalities like account management, sending money, card creation and management and KYC.
Prototyping and User Testing:
I created interactive prototypes to represent the app's functionality and conducted user testing sessions to gather feedback and iterate on the design based on user needs and pain points.
Intutive and Quick Onboarding
Problem
As a banking service, how do we ensure we know certain details about our customers in order to comply with regulations while also giving them an intuitive onboarding?
Solution
We ensured that for new users the onboarding process is fun and personalised to users. To further comply with regulations, gathered specific information about our customers ensuring that all users adhere to legal requirements. This process is commonly known as 'KYC' (Know Your Customer).

Money transfer is fast with several options
Problem
As a cross-border banking service, we address diverse customer needs encompassing various scenarios for payments to individuals or businesses. These needs extend to both domestic and foreign exchange transfers involving a wide array of global currencies.
Solution
We developed a flexible payments platform enabling users to efficiently pay their regular recipients through different methods available. Furthermore, their recipients can receive cash in their preferred currencies as the platform supports 8 currencies.

Funding account smoothly.
Problem
As a cross-border banking service, we address diverse customer needs encompassing various scenarios for funding their accounts. These needs extend to both domestic and foreign exchange transfers involving a wide array of global currencies.
Solution
We designed a flexible platform enabling users to efficiently fund their accounts with just a few taps. The platform supports global foreign currency payments in 8 currencies.

SOME CHALLENGES FACED ON THIS PROJECT
Balancing information density:
I was able to overcome this challenge by leveraging principles of visual hierarchy to organize information effectively, ensuring that users could easily distinguish between different types of information and prioritize their attention accordingly.Accessibility:
By using clear typography, distinct iconography, and great color contrast, I was able to ensure the interface was perceivable and accessible to users of different abilities.
CONCLUSION
Designing for a neo bank mobile application presented both challenges and opportunities to elevate the banking experience for users. Through meticulous attention to detail, collaboration with stakeholders, and a user-centric approach, I am proud to have contributed to the success of Buckpay's mission to redefine banking in the digital age. As the banking landscape continues to evolve, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of design excellence and delivering impactful solutions that empower users and drive business success.
